The United States carried out a major assault on Iran’s nuclear bases overnight, deploying over 24 Tomahawk cruise missiles.
General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, provided technical details of the operation. It involved seven B-2 bombers on an 18-hour flight to the target area. According to Caine, only a small group of “key planners and leaders” were informed of the clandestine mission. The bombers entered Iranian airspace around 5:00 PM local time (10:00 PM BST). Simultaneously, a US submarine launched Tomahawk missiles towards key targets, including the nuclear plant in Isfahan, Reuters reported.
This strike marks a significant blow to Iran’s nuclear capabilities and indicates an intensification of American intervention in the region.
