U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Kosovo Anu Prattipati met with KFOR Commander Major General Özkan Ulutash as he prepares to conclude his mandate leading the NATO-led mission next month.
The meeting took place on Monday and focused on KFOR’s role in maintaining security and stability in Kosovo, according to the U.S. Embassy in Prishtina.
Prattipati thanked Ulutash for his leadership of the NATO mission and for his efforts to contribute to a safe and stable environment for all communities in Kosovo.
“Chargé d’Affaires Anu Prattipati met yesterday with KFOR Commander Major General Özkan Ulutash as he prepares to conclude his mandate next month,” the U.S. Embassy said.
The meeting comes as Ulutash approaches the end of his tenure as commander of KFOR, which operates under a United Nations mandate and is tasked with maintaining a safe and secure environment and ensuring freedom of movement in Kosovo.
The United States remains one of the key contributors to the NATO-led mission. The U.S. State Department continues to identify KFOR as a central part of the international security presence in Kosovo.
The U.S. Embassy’s latest engagement with KFOR also comes amid continued international attention to security developments in northern Kosovo and the wider Western Balkans.
