U.S. and Russian officials are scheduled to meet in Miami this weekend as part of the Trump administration’s efforts to end nearly four years of war between Kyiv and Moscow, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The discussions follow marathon U.S.-Ukraine-Europe talks in Berlin, where officials negotiated security guarantees for Kyiv, territorial concessions, and other issues as Washington increased pressure on Ukraine to make compromises to end the war.

The Russian delegation is expected to include Kirill Dmitriev, head of Russia’s sovereign wealth fund, while the U.S. side will be represented by special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law.

“Plans remain fluid, but the administration will present the outcome of the most recent round of discussions to Russian officials, who have not shifted significantly on their demands,” said one source.

Earlier this week, Witkoff and Kushner held talks in Berlin with Ukrainian and European officials. The U.S. reportedly offered mutual defense guarantees similar to NATO pledges, while Ukraine agreed to delay its demand for immediate NATO membership.

Despite these efforts, Russian President Vladimir Putin has shown no signs of compromising, reiterating Moscow’s intent to “liberate its historic lands” and predicting that European powers supporting Kyiv would eventually lose influence.

U.S. officials plan to convene Ukraine-supporting military officials in the U.S. to finalize technical details on security and territorial arrangements, while Ukrainian national security adviser Rustem Umerov is expected to meet with the American delegation prior to the Miami talks.

European leaders have been coordinating on security guarantees, including a demilitarized zone along the frontlines and deploying coalition troops to train Ukrainian forces and monitor any ceasefire, rather than engaging directly on the front line.

The Miami talks are being framed as a separate effort from the ongoing multilateral discussions, aiming to push forward a framework for ending the conflict.
