The U.S. has imposed sanctions on individuals and companies tied to Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik and his family. Key figures like Staša Košarac and Mirko Dobrić are targeted for their connections.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has announced new sanctions against individuals and companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina today. The latest additions to the U.S. “blacklist” include Staša Košarac, Bosnia’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations (SNSD), as well as entrepreneurs Mirko Dobrić and Aleksandar Dobrić from Gradiška, and Vlatko Vukotić from Banja Luka.
These sanctions have been imposed due to their links to Milorad Dodik, the President of Republika Srpska, and his son Igor Dodik, both of whom are already on the U.S. sanctions list.
The sanctions also target several companies, including Best Servis and Nimbus Innovations, based in Banja Luka, due to their associations with Igor Dodik. Additionally, Vorto is sanctioned for its connection to Vlatko Vukotić, and the company Zelena Jabuka is blacklisted for its ties to Mirko Dobrić.
According to OFAC, these individuals and companies are part of a patronage network that allows the Dodik family to attempt to circumvent previously imposed U.S. sanctions.
