The U.S. has sanctioned two organizations linked to Russian and Iranian disinformation campaigns targeting voters ahead of the election. Treasury officials revealed Tuesday that these groups aimed to manipulate public opinion and sow divisions.

The Russian Center for Geopolitical Expertise allegedly used deepfake videos and fake news sites to spread false narratives about American candidates, collaborating with Russian military intelligence on cyberattacks.

Iran’s Cognitive Design Production Center, tied to the Revolutionary Guard, is accused of inciting political tensions and hacking accounts of prominent U.S. figures.

U.S. intelligence reports ongoing efforts from Russia, Iran, and China to undermine trust in the electoral process. Both Russia and Iran deny interference allegations.
