The American and Ukrainian delegations will meet in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday to discuss what Washington describes as an initial ceasefire with Russia.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed he will travel to Saudi Arabia next week but will not participate in the talks. He expressed hope for a “meaningful meeting” and reiterated Kyiv’s commitment to achieving a “swift and lasting peace.”

This meeting follows former US President Donald Trump’s direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump has halted intelligence-sharing and military aid to Ukraine, arguing that Saudi Arabia is the best host for bringing Russia and Ukraine to the negotiating table. He stated that both sides “want a deal because they have no choice.”
