The Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, has expressed opposition to a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
In an interview with Fox News, JD Vance stated that a possible agreement between Russia and Ukraine “in the end will satisfy neither side.” He voiced skepticism about a meeting between the two leaders ahead of the planned summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, scheduled to take place in Alaska on August 15.
“The only way to make peace is to sit down and talk. You can’t just point fingers. You can’t wag your finger at someone and say ‘you’re wrong, we’re right.’ The path to peace is to have a decisive leader who sits down and forces people to come together. We have many economic leverage points and are willing to use them to bring peace,” said the Vice President of the United States.
“In my opinion, such a meeting would not be very productive,” Vance emphasized.
