Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Kyiv has begun the joint production of interceptor drones with the United States, describing the initiative as crucial amid rising financial challenges and battlefield pressures.
“Production, a US-Ukrainian co-production,” Zelensky said in an interview with Bloomberg.
“I hope that in the future we will have more,” he added.
Zelensky stated that the initiative aims to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense capabilities and compensate for delays in foreign assistance.
He also called on EU members to overcome internal divisions regarding the use of frozen Russian assets.
“I hope, God willing, that we will reach this decision,” he said, adding that without access to these assets, “we will have to find an alternative; it is a matter of survival.”
Meanwhile, the EU has postponed until December a decision on whether to utilize frozen Russian assets to provide €140 billion in loans.
Zelensky argued that revenues from the frozen Russian assets would help Kyiv acquire more Western air defense systems and expand domestic drone production.
