The Venezuelan opposition leader, María Corina Machado, has stated that she presented her Nobel Peace Prize medal to U.S. President Donald Trump. The exchange took place during her Thursday meeting at the White House, according to BBC.
Machado said that the moment was significant for her personally but did not specify whether Trump accepted the medal.
“I believe today is a historic day for us Venezuelans,” she said after the meeting with Trump, describing the encounter as meaningful for her country.
