Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti met today with the Government Commission for the Recognition and Verification of the Status of Persons Subjected to Sexual Violence during the Kosovo War. It was agreed that the application process will be extended for another two years.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the Commission’s work, the role of authorized organizations, and the importance of supporting survivors. Encouraging more survivors to apply for recognition was highlighted as a key priority, according to KosovaPress.
It was emphasized that a broader public discussion on the issue could be necessary to ensure an open and inclusive approach to addressing survivors’ needs and rights.
Participants also explored ways to strengthen cooperation between the Commission, authorized organizations such as KRCT, Medica Kosova, Medica Gjakova, and the Center for the Promotion of Women’s Rights in Drenas, along with municipal offices of the Department for Families of War Martyrs and Disabled Veterans.
