The Kosovo Liberation Army War Veterans’ Organization (OVL UÇK), through a letter addressed to Richard Grenell—former U.S. Presidential Envoy for Special Missions—has called for the closure of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague, arguing that the court has strayed from its intended purpose and has become a political weapon.
In the letter, the veterans express deep concern that the court is no longer serving justice, but rather has turned into a tool of political persecution against former leaders of the KLA who, they argue, fought a just and clean war for freedom. The actions of the court are described as a “witch hunt.”
“President Trump knows better than anyone that when justice is hijacked by political elites, it becomes a weapon to silence patriots,” the letter states.
“This court has become a tool to silence those who brought peace, stopped genocide, and defended liberty. The resignations of several key prosecutors, judges, and legal officers from the Hague-based court were not coincidences, but acts of conscience—recognizing that the court has become a machine of political persecution.”
The letter further claims that a “corrupt prosecutor with a shadowy background” was brought in to issue indictments that, according to the authors, were designed to sabotage President Trump’s peace initiative during his first term in office.
“That prosecutor returned to America after causing damage, hoping to manipulate the will of the American people. He failed. America is built on centuries of freedom, rule of law, and constitutional greatness. But this court? This court was built on the ideas of bureaucrats and power-hungry elites who view justice not as a goal, but as a tool for control.”
The veterans appeal to Ambassador Grenell not as politicians, but as “brothers in arms”, calling on him to raise the issue within the American administration.
“American taxpayers did not send their hard-earned money to Europe to fund a court that violates the very values on which America was built. President Trump is rewriting outdated rules of political control over independent justice, and under these new principles, this court must be shut down. It is a disgrace to American justice and American values.”
The letter also calls for a full review, a financial audit, and an independent investigation into how the court operates, suggesting that its officials live in luxury while “freedom fighters” are held in cells simply for defending their homeland.
“If freedom means anything, if justice is more than just a word—then this cannot be tolerated.”
“We fought against Milošević to stop exactly this kind of abuse. And we will raise our voices again. America stood with us when we needed it most. And now, we ask once more—please, do not let this court write a false history. Do not let corrupt elites turn veterans into criminals. This is not merely a call for help, but a call to defend liberty—once again.”
