Deputy Minister of Justice Blerim Sallahu has reacted after Kosovo’s Supreme Court rejected two final election-related appeals as unfounded.
Sallahu stated that the Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV) will file a request with the Constitutional Court to assess the constitutionality of the Supreme Court’s decision.
“We will also seek a temporary measure against an absurd and politically influenced decision,” Sallahu wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday, March 26.
“We have internal information that the discussion within the Supreme Court was entirely political, far from being a legal and judicial process. This reveals the nature of the decision. However, as Vetëvendosje, we will exhaust all legal avenues to bring justice to this scheme of crime and manipulation,” he added.
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court dismissed Vetëvendosje’s and the Democratic Party of the Ashkali’s (PDAK) appeals, ruling them as unfounded.
“The two appeals received on March 21, 2025—one from Vetëvendosje against the ECAP decision and another from the PDAK-LPB coalition against the ECAP decision—have been rejected as unfounded,” reads the official statement from the Supreme Court.
Vetëvendosje had submitted its appeal to the Supreme Court on March 21, contesting the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel’s (ECAP) decision, which had rejected their request to annul LDK’s postal votes and to hold a postal vote re-run.
Election Certification Process
Central Election Commission (CEC) spokesperson Valmir Elezi stated earlier that, depending on the Supreme Court’s ruling, the CEC will implement any binding decisions before proceeding with the certification of final election results.
Certifying the final results of the February 9 elections would set in motion the legal deadlines for forming Kosovo’s new parliament.
Election Results Breakdown
According to the final election results, Vetëvendosje secured 42.30% of the vote, followed by the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) with 20.95%, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) with 18.27%, and the AAK-Nisma coalition with 7.06%.
This translates to the following parliamentary seat distribution:
- Vetëvendosje: 48 seats
- PDK: 24 seats
- LDK: 20 seats
- AAK-Nisma: 8 seats
- Minority communities: 20 seats
Based on these numbers, no single party can form a government alone.
