The Vetëvendosje party has gathered with its municipal center leaders across Kosovo to discuss local elections and to organize the upcoming “Week of the People’s Movement.” In a press release, the party also expressed frustration over the current blockage in the Kosovo Assembly, where they lack a parliamentary majority—accusing the opposition of obstruction.

Statement from Vetëvendosje:

Meeting with the Centers of the Vetëvendosje Movement in Kosovo

Today, a joint meeting was held at the central office of the Vetëvendosje Movement with leaders from party centers throughout Kosovo. Present at the meeting were the Prime Minister of the Republic, and also the President of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, the organizational secretary Alim Rama, and the coordinator of the centers, Salih Zyba.

Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti addressed the current political situation in the country, criticizing the opposition for blocking the Kosovo Assembly by refusing to participate in votes. He emphasized the continued functioning of the Government, which remains committed to serving its citizens.

The discussion also highlighted the importance of early preparation for the upcoming local elections, with a particular focus on mobilizing organizational structures on the ground and maintaining active engagement with citizens.

One of the key topics of the meeting was the “Week of the Movement,” a traditional event of the organization that begins on June 10th with the commemoration of the League of Prizren and concludes on June 17th, the birthday of the intellectual and professor Ukshin Hoti. This year, June 12th, in addition to being Liberation Day, also marks the 20th anniversary of the Movement, the People’s Movement.

Preparations for the activities marking this week have already begun at all organizational levels.

The party’s grassroots structures, across neighborhoods and villages, are said to be ready for the local elections process, aiming to deliver good local governance that municipalities, neighborhoods, and villages need.
