Defending champions Trepça have become the new leaders of the Kosovo Basketball Superliga.
On Tuesday evening, at the “Minatori” arena in Mitrovica and in front of a limited audience, Trepça convincingly defeated Prishtina’s Bora 90:72.
This match was a rescheduled game from the fifth round of the Superliga. Although Bora was the home team, the game took place in Mitrovica.
The “Miners” took control in the third quarter, creating a decisive lead. The first quarter ended 21:16 in favor of Bora, while the halftime score was 39:36 for Trepça. The third quarter concluded 38:11 for the Mitrovica team, securing their victory, and the fourth quarter was largely a formality.
Ja’cori Payne led Trepça with 17 points, nine assists, and four rebounds. Mikaile Tmushiq also had a strong performance with 14 points, five rebounds, five assists, and six steals, while Drilon Hajrizi scored 20 points.
For Bora, Shaquan Jules stood out with 25 points and 11 rebounds, while Amin Hot contributed 17 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
Bora had been on a four-game winning streak, but this time they were no match for Trepça.
With this victory, Trepça now has eight wins and three losses, leading the table with 19 points. Bashkimi and Peja each have 18 points, while Bora, with five wins and six losses, sits mid-table with 16 points.
The Superliga continues on Wednesday with two games from the 12th round. At 18:45, GO+ Peja faces Sigal Prishtina, and Vëllaznimi plays Rahoveci. On Thursday, also at 18:45, Bashkimi will meet Golden Eagle Ylli, and Trepça will face Bora again, in the same arena where they played on Tuesday.
