A shocking video circulating on social media shows a senior member of Serbia’s ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) physically assaulting a young man, sparking outrage and calls for accountability amid growing concerns over political violence and impunity.
In the footage, the SNS official is seen punching and shoving the young man while other party members attempt to separate them. Moments later, several individuals — identified as SNS supporters — can be seen threatening the person recording the incident with a mobile phone.
According to multiple online sources, the man allegedly involved in the attack is Dejan Paunović, SNS coordinator for part of Vojvodina.
The video was also shared by Marinika Tepić, vice president and MP of the Freedom and Justice Party (SSP), who claimed that Paunović is a close associate of Andrej Vučić, the brother of President Aleksandar Vučić. Tepić further alleged that the same individual was among those responsible for the “chaos in Vrbas” during last summer’s political unrest.
The incident has fueled public outrage and renewed criticism of the ruling party’s tolerance toward intimidation and violence within its ranks. Civil society groups and opposition figures are demanding an immediate investigation and suspension of all individuals involved.
So far, the SNS leadership has remained silent, while the Interior Ministry has yet to issue any official statement regarding the video.
