Vivek Ramaswamy will no longer be part of the newly formed Presidential Department for Government Efficiency, the White House confirmed Monday.

Entrepreneur Elon Musk has been announced as the department’s leader, taking charge of the initiative aimed at streamlining government operations.

A spokesperson for the department confirmed that Ramaswamy, who had worked alongside Musk in the non-governmental phase of the initiative, is stepping away to pursue political aspirations.

“Vivek Ramaswamy played a critical role in helping establish the Department for Government Efficiency,” spokesperson Anna Kelly said in a statement.

“He plans to run for public office soon, which necessitates his departure from the department under the structure announced today. We deeply appreciate his contributions over the past two months and look forward to seeing him play a vital role in making America great again,” the statement added.

Ramaswamy is reportedly preparing to launch a gubernatorial campaign in Ohio, signaling his continued ambition for public service.
