Kosovo’s President, Vjosa Osmani, has hinted at a potential political comeback in the Democratic League of Kosovo, sparking fresh debate about a possible realignment on the right-wing of Kosovo’s political spectrum.

Speaking at a gathering with citizens in Podujevë, Osmani remained cautious but left the door open:
“I told you earlier, until April 4 I cannot speak—but that doesn’t mean you can’t,” she said briefly.

April 4 marks the end of her presidential mandate, after which she would be free to engage openly in party politics.

Meanwhile, LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku has already laid the groundwork for what he calls a “grand unification” of the political right in Kosovo—suggesting Osmani could play a central role.

Abdixhiku emphasized that while Osmani cannot currently engage politically due to her position, a major political project could bring her back:

“It is time for a great unification, not individual interests. We have no people to lose—every potential must come together.”

In a follow-up Facebook post, he reinforced the idea of a broad political and civic alliance centered around the Democratic League of Kosovo—one that transcends past divisions, personal ambitions, and old grievances.

He framed the initiative as a response to ongoing political crises and stagnation, calling for a new narrative that unites Kosovo, stabilizes political life, and firmly anchors the country in the West.

What this means:
If Osmani returns to the Democratic League of Kosovo, it could reshape Kosovo’s political landscape—potentially consolidating the right and creating a stronger pro-Western bloc ahead of future elections.
