European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has responded to the US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities by urging Tehran to engage in a diplomatic solution.

“Now is the time for Iran to engage in a credible diplomatic solution. The negotiating table is the only place to end this crisis,” she wrote on X.

Von der Leyen stressed that “Iran must never acquire the bomb,” adding that stability in the Middle East is essential at a time when tensions have reached a new peak. “Respect for international law is critical,” she underlined.

Her statement came hours after US President Donald Trump confirmed that American forces had struck three Iranian nuclear locations in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.

The strikes were in response to a series of US-backed Israeli attacks launched on June 13, which led to counter-attacks by Iran. According to Israeli authorities, Iranian attacks have left at least 25 dead and hundreds injured. Meanwhile, Iran reports over 430 killed and more than 3,500 injured from the Israeli airstrikes.
