European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen condemned Russia’s recent incursion into Romanian airspace, calling it a blatant violation of EU sovereignty and a serious threat to regional stability.
Von der Leyen emphasized on X (formerly Twitter) that:
“We are working closely with Romania and other member states to protect EU territory.”
She added:
“We stand in solidarity with Romania.”
The incident follows recent reports of Russian drones entering NATO airspace, highlighting growing tensions in Eastern Europe. EU leaders have reiterated their commitment to defending member states’ sovereignty and maintaining stability across the region.
