European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen believes that this week will be crucial in creating the conditions to end Russia’s war against Ukraine.

She made this statement on Sunday during a trilateral meeting in Rome with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance.

The report states that during the discussions, the European Commission President also raised the issue of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

“I would also like to raise the topic of Ukraine. What unites us is that we want a just and lasting peace, and I know how much you are committed to ending this war, and I thank you for that,” Von der Leyen said, addressing J.D. Vance.

Von der Leyen’s comments suggest that significant diplomatic efforts are underway to find a resolution to the conflict in Ukraine, with this week being seen as a critical period for progress.
