The vote-counting process has officially concluded in the city of Gjilan for the October 12 local elections, according to data released by the Central Election Commission (CEC).
The results confirm that Gjilan will head to a runoff between the Vetëvendosje (VV) and Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) candidates.
The incumbent mayor and VV candidate, Alban Hyseni, received 49.79% of the votes — a total of 21,463 ballots.
Meanwhile, LDK’s candidate, Arbër Ismajli, secured 34.24%, or 14,761 votes.
The vote difference between the two candidates stands at 6,702, giving Hyseni a strong advantage heading into the November 9 runoff.
