The Central Election Commission (CEC) had determined the vote-counting schedule during the year-end period several days ago, deciding that the process would continue with a short pause for the New Year holidays.
At its previous meeting, the CEC decided that on December 31, vote counting would continue until 12:00, after which it would be suspended for the remainder of the day. The process will resume on January 1 at 16:00.
The decision was taken following discussions within the Election Operations Council and sparked debate among CEC members regarding staff engagement during the holiday period.
