The recounting of votes for parliamentary candidates who competed in the 28 December elections is continuing, following the identification of serious electoral irregularities.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) announced that, at the Counting and Results Center, 1,500 out of 2,557 polling stations have been recounted so far, representing more than 58% of the total.

With the completion of the recount in 1,500 polling stations, the process has now been finalized in 22 municipalities.

“In the Counting and Results Center, the recounting of ballots is ongoing according to the list of polling stations for which the CEC has issued a decision to be recounted. From the start of this process on Tuesday, 13 January 2026 at 18:00, until Saturday, 24 January 2026 at 16:00, over 58% or 1,500 out of 2,557 polling stations have been recounted,” the CEC stated.

CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi said the institution is making maximum efforts to complete the recount as quickly as possible, in order to proceed with the announcement of the final results of the early parliamentary elections for the Assembly of Kosovo.

“The CEC plans to conclude the recount of all remaining polling stations during the coming week,” Elezi added.

Due to the detected manipulations, the Prosecution in Prizren arrested 109 election commissioners. Detention has been requested for 21 commissioners on charges of falsification of voting results. One commissioner faces two criminal charges, including falsification of election results and bribery, while one observer has been charged with threats and offering bribes.
