The Central Election Commission (CEC) has begun recounting ballots from 50 polling stations due to irregularities found during the vote tallying process at the Counting and Results Center (CRC).
Initially, during today’s meeting, the CEC decided to recount votes from 15 polling stations across various municipalities in Kosovo, where elections took place on February 9, 2025.
Reasons for the Recount
According to the CRC’s report, discrepancies were identified between the number of signatures on the Voter List and the number of ballots found inside the ballot boxes. This mismatch prompted the commission to take corrective action.
Furthermore, the CEC ordered a full recount of votes from 35 additional polling stations in Vushtrri, citing inconsistencies in the reported election results.
Supervised Recount Process
The recount is being conducted under the supervision of accredited observers to ensure transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
The development follows heightened scrutiny over the integrity of the February elections, with political parties and observers closely monitoring the recount’s outcome.
