Investigations into alleged vote manipulation during Kosovo’s December 28 parliamentary elections are expected to expand to the municipalities of Vushtrri and Skenderaj, the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica has confirmed.

According to prosecutors, four presiding officers have been detained for 48 hours by Kosovo Police in the regions of South and North Mitrovica, acting on orders from the Basic Prosecution Office of Mitrovica, under suspicions of electoral vote manipulation.

Speaking to Klan Kosova, Valon Preteni, spokesperson for the Mitrovica Basic Prosecution, said the investigation is already broad in scope.

“The prosecution has ordered the questioning of 43 presiding officers of Municipal Counting Centers in South Mitrovica, North Mitrovica, Leposaviq, Zubin Potok, and Zvečan,” Preteni stated.

He further confirmed that the investigation will likely extend to two additional municipalities under the jurisdiction of the Mitrovica prosecution.

“We also cover the municipalities of Skenderaj and Vushtrri, and in the coming days a decision will be made regarding the questioning of presiding officers of Municipal Counting Centers in these two municipalities as well,” Preteni added.

The case is part of broader efforts by Kosovo’s judicial authorities to address allegations of electoral irregularities following the early parliamentary elections, which resulted in a decisive victory for Lëvizja Vetëvendosje.

Authorities have not yet announced whether formal indictments will be filed, stating that investigations remain ongoing.
