The Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced that the process of verifying and counting ballots from the local elections is nearing completion, with activities still ongoing only in Pristina and Prizren.

According to the CEC, the verification and counting activities in the Municipal Counting Centers (MCCs)—which began one day after the elections—have already been completed in 36 municipalities. Meanwhile, at the Counting and Results Center (CRC), the second day of counting ballots cast from abroad is underway. These votes were sent by mail between September 17 and October 11, 2025.

Almost All Ballot Boxes Processed

CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi stated that by 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, results from 2,499 polling stations had been verified for both mayoral and municipal assembly elections, out of a total of 2,500 polling stations.

Out of 5,142 ballot boxes used for the two election levels, 4,999 have already been processed, Elezi confirmed.

Counting Votes from the Diaspora

During the first day of counting ballots from abroad, 32 boxes related to mayoral elections and 23 boxes for municipal assemblies were processed.

The publication of diaspora vote results began on the CEC’s official website at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, and the process is expected to continue until Monday.

The CEC is expected to publish final preliminary results once all ballots, including those from the diaspora, have been verified and counted.
