The Central Election Commission (KQZ) has announced that the verification of election results in South Mitrovica is expected to conclude today, as the process continues.

According to the latest KQZ update, verification has been completed for 69 polling stations at the Municipal Counting Center. Current results show a narrow margin of 554 votes between the leading candidates.

Faton Peci from Vetëvendosje leads with 51.27% (11,218 votes), while Arian Tahiri from PDK has 48.73% (10,664 votes).

The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) announced on Wednesday that it has submitted a complaint to the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel, requesting a recount in this municipality.

The process was interrupted on Monday evening following reports of possible irregularities. Yesterday, the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Mitrovica ordered the Municipal Election Commission to resume the counting process at the Municipal Counting Center in South Mitrovica.

Valon Preteni, spokesperson for the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Mitrovica, confirmed that two police officers will be present throughout the counting process to ensure security and transparency.
