The Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced in its latest conference that it has begun verifying votes received from the diaspora via mail.

CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi also revealed the number of citizens abroad who voted in diplomatic missions.

“As we mentioned several times during the voter registration process, out of 104,924 voters, 84,600 chose to vote by mail, and 20,324 were registered to vote physically at diplomatic missions. Regarding the voting at diplomatic missions, which concluded yesterday, we inform you that of the 20,324 voters who were registered for this voting method in 30 diplomatic missions of the Republic of Kosovo, 15,352 voters participated, or 75.54%,” Elezi stated.

He further added that the postal voting process was also concluded yesterday.

“From the information we have from the post offices, specifically from eight mailboxes in Germany, Switzerland, Turkey, Austria, the United Kingdom, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and the CEC’s postal office in Kosovo, a total of 50,226 packages have been received in these mailboxes. However, this number is not final, as data from all mailboxes have not yet been fully compiled,” Elezi said.

He emphasized that these packages with ballots will undergo a verification process to confirm they belong to registered voters and that all required procedures have been followed.

Elezi also noted that the counting of these votes will take place at a later stage at the Counting and Results Center (CRC).
