The Prime Minister of Serbia, Miloš Vučević, stated today that by lifting the ban on the entry of products from central Serbia at the Merdare checkpoint, Kosovo has eased tensions that have existed for a long time.

Vučević expressed a desire for the decision to not only pertain to Merdare but to support everything that contributes to better conditions for Serbian citizens, specifically ensuring that Serbs in Kosovo can live more securely and have a more regular supply of goods.

“It is a positive effort by the German side, which highlighted a new phase in the CEFTA agreement. We are always ready for negotiations and do not see compromise as a negative thing, especially if it creates better living conditions for Serbs in Kosovo,” Vučević said.

He added that he hopes the decision applies not only at Merdare but is allowed at all crossings.
