President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić said he is currently considering two or three potential candidates for the next presidential elections, noting that he has been consulting with others while keeping his preferred option in mind.
Speaking about the process, Vučić acknowledged that he sometimes releases “trial balloons” to test reactions, explaining that he intentionally shares different ideas with various people to gauge their opinions while privately holding the name of the candidate he truly favors.
At the same time, Vučić stressed that he will not seek to change Serbia’s Constitution in order to run again for president. According to him, Serbia should not be altered to suit any individual leader.
“I certainly cannot be president again and I have no right to be president again. Serbia will not change because of Vučić — Vučić is here to serve Serbia,” he said.
The Serbian leader also addressed the country’s foreign policy direction, stating that Serbia will continue efforts to accelerate its path toward the European Union, although he acknowledged that the process may not always be easy and often depends on political alignment.
He added that the issue of Kosovo and Serbia’s relationship with Russia remain key political topics influencing the European integration process. Vučić also expressed hope that relations between Serbia and the United States will improve in the coming period.
