Vučić “alarmed” by a perfectly normal regional meeting

Belgrade – Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić seems to have discovered an “unbearable threat” to his country: a routine international meeting where Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, shook hands with Croatian Prime Minister, Andrej Plenković, and three defense ministers from Albania, Croatia, and Kosovo were present.

For Vučić, this is enough to cause “serious concern” and to warn that “steps will be taken accordingly.” Because why not? After all, when neighbors talk to each other about security issues, it’s not dialogue—it’s apparently a national crisis.

What the rest of the world sees as simple regional coordination and cooperation, Vučić sees as a military alliance threatening Belgrade. Some might call it exaggeration; others might just laugh at the “hidden threats” that he seems to find everywhere.

The irony is hard to miss: while the region’s countries work openly and publicly toward security and stability, Vučić panics at handshakes and conversations. Sometimes, it seems a meeting in Munich is far more dangerous than any modern weapon—at least for him.
