Nicolás Maduro, the authoritarian president of Venezuela, who was arrested today by the United States, had developed close and friendly relations with Serbia and its president, Aleksandar Vučić.
Relations between the two countries were confirmed several months ago during a telephone conversation between the leaders, who emphasized the excellent cooperation between Serbia and Venezuela.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić described Maduro as “a great friend of Serbia” and shared a post on Instagram, writing: “I had a good and meaningful conversation with President Nicolás Maduro.”
He added that during the conversation they discussed the importance of preserving multilateralism and strengthening bilateral relations between Serbia and Venezuela.
