The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, spoke in New York with the president of Iran, Massoud Pezeshkian, and as he said, the special topic of the conversation was the situation in Kosovo.

The meeting between the two presidents took place on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly session.

From 2021, Serbia is strengthening cooperation with Iran, despite being a country under European Union (EU) sanctions, with whose foreign and security policy it is obliged to agree as a candidate country for membership in the European bloc.

Vucic expressed his gratitude for Kosovo, whose independence Iran does not recognize.

Vucic, at the meeting with the iranian President, stressed the importance of the United Nations institution in efforts to intensify dialogue and diplomatic activities to quickly de-escalate all conflicts, the consequences of which are already deep and far-reaching.

He invited the president of Iran to visit Serbia.
