Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has responded to accusations made by Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), which claims that Belgrade continues to supply ammunition to Ukraine through intermediary countries. Vučić stated that he has personally discussed the matter with Russian President Vladimir Putin, firmly denying the allegations and emphasizing that no contracts or permits exist for the export of missiles or other weapons.
He added that a joint working group has been formed with Russian partners to investigate the claims and asserted that some of the accusations are entirely false. Vučić also noted that Serbia’s defense industry employs around 24,000 people and that the weapons produced are intended solely for the needs of the Serbian Armed Forces.
On the other hand, the SVR accuses Serbian companies of using false end-user certificates and third-party countries to funnel weapons to Ukraine. According to reports, Serbia has allegedly exported ammunition worth €800 million to Ukraine since the beginning of the war in 2022, using unauthorized and indirect channels. Vučić has denied any direct involvement and labeled the accusations as baseless.
