Serbia has signed a defense cooperation agreement with Hungary.

The agreement for strategic cooperation in the field of defense was signed by Serbia’s Defense Minister, Bratislav Gajić, and Hungary’s Defense Minister.

Serbia’s President, Aleksandar Vučić, stated that Serbia has the most developed defense cooperation with Hungary among all the countries in the region, adding that they are moving toward a military alliance between the two countries.

“The key elements of these relations are military-military cooperation, reflected in joint multinational exercises, military-technical cooperation, and the procurement of armament systems. The document signed by both ministers today operationalizes and concretizes the agreement for strategic cooperation in defense, reached in 2023, and it is of great importance to us that we have agreed with our Hungarian friends,” he said.

“Today, 26 years later, we are in a position to build closer strategic relations in defense and to improve them, and we believe this agreement will continue moving us further toward the creation of a military alliance between Serbia and Hungary. This is what the Hungarian side wants, and both parliaments, but our relations are so good, considering what is happening in the world,” said the Serbian president.

It is important to note that this move by official Belgrade follows the signing of the military agreement between Albania, Kosovo, and Croatia a few days ago.
