Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić was forced to make an emergency landing in Azerbaijan while en route to Moscow to participate in the Victory Day Parade, due to ongoing military operations in Ukrainian airspace, according to Serbian pro-government media.
Informer newspaper reported that Vučić’s flight was unable to continue its journey towards Russia due to security risks, including the impact of air defense systems and the potential for the aircraft to be targeted in the conflict zone.
Earlier reports indicated that Vučić was set to attend the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Russia’s victory in World War II and meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the event.
