While grappling with mounting domestic challenges, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić unveiled ambitious plans for the introduction of flying cars in Serbia by 2027. The Sarajevo-based daily Oslobođenje, alongside other regional outlets, highlighted Vučić’s futuristic claims under the headline: “While Serbia Burns Under His Feet, Vučić Lives in Science Fiction.”

Plans for Flying Cars

According to Vučić, Serbia has already begun negotiations for acquiring at least three aircraft-like vehicles. Discussions are also underway with Chinese partners who have advanced flying car technology operational in several cities.

“We aim to expedite the process to complete all necessary preparations and regulatory requirements by mid-2026, enabling us to use flying cars in 2027,” said Vučić, envisioning Serbia as a trailblazer in modern transportation.

Serbia’s Expo 2027 Vision

Vučić emphasized that Serbia’s hosting of the Expo 2027 international exhibition provides a platform to showcase its rapid modernization and growth. “We want to demonstrate that Serbia is the fastest-growing and most modernizing country in Europe,” he declared.

Regional Media Reaction

Oslobođenje’s report juxtaposed Vučić’s ambitious rhetoric with Serbia’s pressing internal issues, including economic struggles and political tensions, questioning whether such grand visions are timely or grounded in reality.

As Serbia gears up for the Expo, Vučić’s flying car agenda is set to draw both intrigue and skepticism, with critics arguing it may be more distraction than development.
