President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, stated tonight in London that the main topic at tomorrow’s European Political Community summit will be Ukraine. He added that he will have a private conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who will visit Belgrade on Friday.

Vučić said that on Friday, during Chancellor Scholz’s visit, they will have a “long one-on-one meeting,” followed by the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on mineral resources.

“We will talk about Serbia’s European path, all our political relations, which include Kosovo, the situation in the region, but also the development of our economy,” Vučić said, as reported by the Serbian news agency “Beta.”

The fourth meeting of the European Political Community will be held on Thursday, gathering heads of state or government from nearly 50 countries at Blenheim Palace, near London. Among them will be the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani.

Scholz’s visit to Belgrade was initially announced on Tuesday evening by the European media “Politico,” and was confirmed on Wednesday by a spokesperson for the German government.

Along with Scholz, European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič will also visit Belgrade. Together, they will participate in the raw materials summit in the Serbian capital.

During this summit, Serbia will sign a memorandum of understanding with the EU for a strategic partnership regarding raw materials, battery supplies, and electric vehicles.

The German government spokesperson said that the visit concerns the lithium mine project in Serbia, a project that has sparked numerous citizen protests.
