Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated that he met with former Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik in Belgrade to discuss “all important regional issues.”
Vučić shared a photo from the meeting on Instagram, describing it as a “brotherly encounter with President Dodik.”
Despite Vučić addressing Dodik as “President,” the Bosnian Court removed Dodik from office on August 18 due to noncompliance with the High Representative’s decisions. Earlier in August, Dodik was sentenced to one year in prison and banned from holding public office for six years, after signing laws that contravened Constitutional Court and High Representative rulings in Republika Srpska.
Dodik’s legal team requested that the prison sentence be converted into a monetary fine, which the Bosnian Court approved.
On September 9, Dodik is scheduled to meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow, according to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Dodik has met Russian President Vladimir Putin eight times, including a visit in April 2025, when Putin pledged Russian support for the continuation of international institutions in Bosnia, including the office of the High Representative Christian Schmidt.
Vučić and Dodik’s meeting in Belgrade underscores ongoing Serbian-Bosnian Serb political coordination amid regional tensions and Dodik’s legal and political challenges in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
