Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced that he met today in Belgrade with Gert Jan Koopman, Director of the European Commission’s (EC) Directorate for Enlargement, to discuss Serbia’s European path, ongoing reform processes, and enhancing cooperation with the European Union (EU).

Vučić shared on Instagram that the talks also covered a “set of judicial laws”. He emphasized that Serbia aims to accelerate reforms in the rule of law and improve legislation according to the best European standards, while taking into account the interests of citizens and the stability of the legal system.

He added that Belgrade is taking all measures to speed up preparations for the opening of the remaining EU negotiation chapters, underlining the country’s commitment to EU integration.

“I am grateful to Director Koopman for his personal engagement and support. I look forward to continuing constructive cooperation with European institutions, with the clear goal of Serbia’s EU membership,” Vučić stated.
