Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić is once again on his way to Moscow after an unexpected emergency landing in Baku, Azerbaijan. The incident occurred during his flight to attend Russia’s Victory Day celebrations and a scheduled meeting with President Vladimir Putin, as confirmed by the Kremlin.

According to Serbian outlet Nova.rs, the aircraft carrying Vučić was denied passage through conflict-affected airspace due to ongoing military operations between Russia and Ukraine. Though flight permissions had been initially granted, the deteriorating security situation forced the route to be diverted.

Pro-government Serbian media reported that Moscow’s airports were temporarily closed, aligning with data from Flightradar24, which shows multiple afternoon landings canceled. This follows recent Ukrainian drone attacks that have led to the temporary closure of several Russian airports.

Additionally, Flightradar24 confirmed that an Embraer jet took off from Belgrade and landed in Baku, where Vučić made his unscheduled stop.

The Russian state media Sputnik previously announced Vučić’s trip, stating he would participate in the Victory Day parade on Red Square and hold talks with Putin.
