The arrival of thousands of “Skydagger” combat drones in Kosovo has triggered a sharp reaction from Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, who accused Turkey of undermining regional stability and violating international law.
The RTF (Ready to Fly) Skydagger FPV drones, equipped with explosive payloads and capable of striking both moving and stationary targets, are part of a defense contract signed between Kosovo and Turkish drone manufacturer Baykar in 2024.
However, the development drew strong criticism from Belgrade. Writing on his official account on the social platform “X,” Vučić said he was “horrified by Turkey’s actions” and accused Ankara of breaching the UN Charter and Resolution 1244 of the Security Council.
“I am horrified by Turkey’s behavior and its brutal violation of the UN Charter and Resolution 1244, as well as by the continued arming of Kosovo,” Vučić stated.
He added that Turkey’s moves reveal deeper geopolitical ambitions:
“It is now completely clear that Turkey does not want stability in the Western Balkans and dreams of restoring the Ottoman Empire. Serbia is a small country, but we have understood the message very well.”
Kosovo’s recent acquisition of advanced Turkish-made drones marks a significant step in strengthening its defense capabilities. Analysts say the move underscores growing military cooperation between Prishtina and Ankara, a partnership that Belgrade views as a threat to its influence in the region.
