Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has issued a strong message to what he described as potential aggressors against Serbia, stating that he should not be compared to former Yugoslav leader Slobodan Milošević.

In a video message published on his official Instagram account, Vučić wrote that “freedom is the most precious value for the Serbian people”, emphasizing Serbia’s historical understanding of its importance.

“You Failed to Remove Me from Power”

In the video, Vučić claimed that external actors had attempted to remove him from power during the past year, but failed to do so.

“You did everything last year to overthrow me, together with many external factors. Billions of euros were invested, and you did not succeed,” Vučić said.

He added that those who believe Serbia can be treated as it was in 1941 or at other moments in history should reconsider their assumptions.

Rejection of Comparisons to Milošević

Vučić explicitly rejected comparisons to the former Serbian and Yugoslav president, stating:

“I am not Slobodan Milošević. Nor am I naive, nor foolish enough to believe you.”

Call for Peace, Warning of a Response

While stressing the importance of stability, Vučić said Serbia remains committed to peace but will respond decisively to any threat.

“We will preserve peace, but we will be ready to deliver an adequate response to any potential aggressor — strong enough that it will never again cross their mind to harm the Serbian people,” he concluded.
