Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić claimed during a rally in Smederevo that the ongoing protests in Serbia were part of a “color revolution” funded with billions of euros to weaken Serbia’s ability to defend Kosovo and support Republika Srpska.

“They organized a color revolution mainly because they wanted to destroy Serbia so that Serbia could not protect Kosovo and its people, and so that Serbia could not help its brothers and people in Republika Srpska,” Vučić stated, as reported by Anadolu.

He further alleged that the protests had severely impacted Serbia’s economy, particularly foreign direct investments, and accused demonstrators of illegally blocking roads and restricting citizens’ freedom of movement.

Large-scale protests have been ongoing in Serbia for months, initially triggered by the demolition of a protective barrier at a train station in Novi Sad last November, which resulted in 15 deaths.
