The U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Brendan Hanrahan, visited Serbia where he held a meeting with the country’s President, Aleksandar Vučić.

Vučić shared details of their meeting in Belgrade through a post on Facebook.

He said that the discussion with the senior American official focused on global issues, bilateral relations between Serbia and the United States, and the current situation in the Western Balkans.

“We specifically referred to the strategic partnership between Serbia and the U.S. and the development of cooperation across all areas, from energy to artificial intelligence, emphasizing that productive economic cooperation must be the foundation of our bilateral relations.”

“I pointed out that Serbia remains firmly committed to maintaining peace and stability, to dialogue as the only way to resolve outstanding issues, and to **respect for international law.”

“We agreed that open and direct communication is the key to strengthening mutual understanding and building trust,” he added.

Furthermore, the Serbian President said he expressed gratitude to the United States for what he described as its “continued support so far for Serbia’s European integration process.”

Brendan Hanrahan is expected to visit Kosovo today, where he will meet with state officials.

In a recent post on X, Hanrahan stated he looks forward to strengthening ties between the United States and the countries of the Western Balkans during his visit to the region.
