Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has claimed that an attempt to carry out the issue of Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe was prevented.
Vucic said on Friday, April 5, that “some tried to finish everything before the decision of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on Kosovo’s membership”.
According to you, this “was prevented thanks to the intervention of two countries”.
“They tried yesterday before the decision of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to finish everything, and thanks to the intervention of two countries, this did not happen,” Vucic told reporters on April 6 at the headquarters of the Serbian Progressive Party, where the ruling coalition is meeting signatures for the Belgrade elections.
Vucic did not specify any efforts or which countries were involved.
He added that on April 7 he will travel to Paris, where he will have important meetings and a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.
“We are facing difficult days in terms of decisions related to Pristina’s membership in the Council of Europe, in the United Nations, severe pressure from the region, Europe and the world on this issue, but the country must develop”. Vucic said.
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will vote for the admission of Kosovo on April 16, while the final decision is expected at the meeting of the Committee of Ministers on May 16.
On April 5, by order of Vucic, Serbia formed a Working Group for the coordination of the activities of the state authorities working on the plan of “preventing the admission of Kosovo to the Council of Europe”.
