In an interview with the Sarajevo newspaper “Dnevni Avaz,” Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić recently presented a medieval-like stance, suggesting that the Balkans would calm down and rehabilitate if matters were handed over to Serbia, but foreign powers prevent them from resolving these issues and all the problems in the region.
What does this mean? Were NATO’s 78 days of bombing 25 years ago not enough for Serbia, inflicted due to the crimes and genocide against the Albanian population in Kosovo, for which they have yet to apologize? Instead, they continue to threaten with their military near the Kosovo border even after years of peace.
What benefits Serbia and Vučić in opening another front with Kosovo or even the region? What benefits the people of this country in engaging their sons in such wars and conflicts for the sake of a deranged president who dreams of creating a “Greater Serbia,” a mythical idea that has provided ample lessons from past practices, showing that Serbia has never won a battle in its history but instead has recorded its defeats as victories.
Often, we tell ourselves not to engage with those who play the role of the devil and do his work, not even mentioning their names. However, it is impossible to remain indifferent to their devilishness, an image that does not correspond with normal (human) existence but with a mythical presentation, where human existence involves mutual and interactive reactions.
The term “devil” should not be taken as synonymous with the term “human,” and it becomes less clear or conscious when referring to a person who surpasses the devil in deeds and perfidious methods, produced by the human mind to act against humanity, feeling that it is little for what he wants to achieve from his will.
Interestingly, in all previous and current Serbian regimes, the Serbian Orthodox Church has played its distinct role in every government. On one side, it prays for the unity of the Serbian people and wishes peace with all other peoples living around, while on the other side, it blesses all those who enter the war to fight non-Serbs, regardless of their innocence, even if they are children.
To Serbia and the last regime of Milošević, the human genocide and material destruction caused to the Albanian people and Kosovo seemed insufficient. They never opened their mouths or thought to apologize, at least to show pain and human feelings for the killing of thousands of innocent children, including those in cradles and in the arms of their mothers.
Just recently, the “All-Serb Assembly” was held in Belgrade, together with the Serbian government. Representatives of the Republika Srpska of Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by Dodik, and leaders of the Serbian Orthodox Church, headed by Porfirije, joined this assembly, as well as Lista Srpska, which operates in Kosovo as a tool of Vučić.
This Assembly would be declared a great historical event for Serbs and Serbia, and a grand celebration for this people, where the President of Serbia, Vučić, and the President of Republika Srpska in Bosnia, Dodik, had the main speeches, echoing their rhetoric that they would not abandon each other but would fight united for a “one nation, one Assembly” Serbian, meaning a “Greater Serbia.”
In the declarations of this gathering, Kosovo is also mentioned, referring to it as Kosovo and Metohija, a southern and inseparable province of Serbia. They also mention the Serbs of Kosovo, who would be distinguished as loyal citizens of Serbia, protecting with fanaticism their properties, churches, and monasteries in this land, and these Serbian citizens are also entitled to the creation of an Association of Serb-majority municipalities.
In this “all-inclusive Serbian Assembly,” the UN-adopted Resolution on the Srebrenica genocide is also opposed, claiming it would pave the way for other resolutions in the region, calling it an unjust action against Serbs. Despite knowing well that within a short interval in 1995, over 8,000 Bosniak men were executed by Serbian criminals in Srebrenica.
Serbia’s and Vučić’s efforts to prevent Kosovo from joining international organizations and European bodies are aggressive human campaigns that the normal world distinguishes as a flawed and abnormal policy. This policy consumes the reality of a democratic people and state, resulting in an incorrect and abnormal image in the human world.
Kosovo’s continuous efforts to join international organizations, fulfilling all required criteria since 2010, is understood to be a complicated process as it requires comprehensive political and institutional mobilization and support from member states of these organizations, signaling their pro-Kosovo stance.
A special, perhaps spontaneous, meeting on September 4, 2020, at the White House in Washington, where an agreement was signed between Kosovo’s former Prime Minister Hoti and Vučić in the presence of US President Donald Trump, requested Kosovo not to apply to any international organization for a set period, and Serbia to cease withdrawing Kosovo’s recognitions. This agreement revived more reflection against recognizing our state.
Kosovo does not need to advertise to Serbia or await its approval for any manner of application and membership in international bodies, avoiding previous mistakes by withdrawing from these organizations, knowing that Serbia does everything possible through propaganda and aggressive speeches to undermine every effort and engagement of our country.
I don’t think the title of your article matches the content lol. Just kidding, mainly because I had some doubts after reading the article.
