Sanctioned by the US due to cooperation with Russia and corruption, Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin has always openly expressed his loyalty and affection for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

This time, he sent a message to his superior, Aleksandar Vučić. Vulin stated that he would very much like Vučić to attend the upcoming BRICS meeting.

“Vučić kindly explained his position and said that a decision would be made. He has not refused anyone, has not refused anything, especially not through the media,” Vulin said on TV Pink.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced, in a recent conversation with Vulin in Vladivostok, that Vučić was invited to the BRICS meeting in Kazan in October.

BRICS is an acronym that includes the countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

This organization has a rich history, starting from its creation as a concept by Goldman Sachs in 2001, which predicted an important global role for these four emerging economies (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) in leading global growth. With the addition of South Africa in 2010, BRICS took on a more formal shape, transforming from an idea into an important political and economic entity.

Since then, BRICS has taken significant steps to increase its influence on the global stage, challenging Western “hegemony” in economic and political fields. One of BRICS’s major achievements is the establishment of the New Development Bank (NDB), which aims to support infrastructure projects in member countries and other developing economies, thus challenging traditional financial institutions such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

Economically, BRICS is challenging the dominance of the US dollar in global trade. Russian President Vladimir Putin has emphasized the process of “de-dollarization” of economic ties, seeking to reduce reliance on the US dollar in international transactions. However, the dollar continues to dominate global trade.

BRICS has started to expand its membership, including countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Ethiopia, Egypt, Argentina, and the United Arab Emirates. This expansion signals an increasing impact of BRICS and an effort to further challenge existing global governance structures.

The latest expansion of BRICS, including states such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Ethiopia, Egypt, Argentina, and the UAE, represents a significant shift in the group’s strategy and influence. This move indicates BRICS’s efforts to expand its influence in various regions of the world and to create a broader platform for international cooperation, thereby challenging Western influence on the global stage.

The new member states bring with them significant economic and political resources, as well as various challenges. For example, Saudi Arabia and Iran are key players in oil trade and have significant influence in Middle Eastern politics, while Egypt and Ethiopia have disputes over the management of the Nile River. These changes in regional dynamics could bring new challenges in reaching consensus within the group.

Overall, the expansion of BRICS and its growing influence on the global stage suggests that the group is seeking to build an alternative platform for international cooperation, challenging established structures and institutions. This development could have profound impacts on the future of international relations, the global economy, and the creation of a more equitable and balanced global order.

What Would be the Security, Economic, and Geopolitical Effects if Serbia Joins BRICS?

Lawmakers from the Socialist Movement of Serbia have proposed Serbia’s membership in BRICS. This move has sparked various reactions and concerns about the impact of this initiative on the region.

The signatories of the proposal are deputies from the party, the leader of which until recently was the US-sanctioned Aleksandar Vulin, Bojan Torbica, and Gjorgje Komlenski, who are coalition partners with the party of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.

BRICS is an acronym for an organization of five major developing national economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. This organization was founded in 2009 and aims to increase economic cooperation and political dialogue among its members and to act as a counterbalance to the West.
