In a rare show of political unity, four major Albanian parties in Kosovo – Vetëvendosje (VV), Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), and Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) – will run together on a single electoral list in the upcoming local elections in Graçanica, a municipality with a majority Serbian population.
Deputy Mayor Leutrim Ajeti announced the formation of “Aleanca Shqiptare” (The Albanian Alliance), a joint initiative that aims to represent all Albanians in the municipality under one political platform.
“We have decided to set aside party differences and unite all Albanians in one initiative called ‘Aleanca Shqiptare’. Together with VV, LDK, PDK, and AAK, we will compete in these local elections with a single list,” Ajeti stated.
The joint list will include ten candidates for the Municipal Assembly, with 40% female representation. Alongside party members, the list will feature independent community figures and activists.
Ajeti will also run as the joint Albanian candidate for Mayor of Graçanica. He pledged to improve public services, push forward major development projects, and ensure inclusive governance for all residents, regardless of ethnicity or religion.
The coalition’s governing program for the next four years will be unveiled in the coming days and will focus on investments across all areas of the municipality. The candidate list for the Municipal Assembly will also be presented soon.
