Dubai’s food supply could last only 10 days due to the ongoing war in the Middle East.

Fighting in the region is threatening Dubai’s food supply, as the current stock of fresh products may only be sufficient for about ten days.

The problem is not a lack of money, but major disruptions in supply chains caused by the regional conflict involving Iran.

Stefan Paul, the CEO of the logistics company Kuehne+Nagel, said in an interview with Swiss television SRF that his warning is based on real-time data from his company’s supply chains, according to media reports.

He explained that Dubai and most Gulf countries import 80–90% of their food, while around 70% of these products pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

The situation worsened when this crucial maritime route was closed to commercial traffic on February 28.

Meanwhile, air cargo capacity to the Middle East dropped by 22% between February 28 and March 3, according to data from the company Aevean, published by Reuters.

The Port of Jebel Ali, the region’s main hub for importing finished goods and a key supply center for around 50 million people in the Persian Gulf, was also hit by attacks. Operations were suspended and only partially resumed on March 5.

Experts warn that with sea routes blocked, air transport disrupted, and the main port damaged, Dubai could face serious shortages of fresh food within just ten days.
